Dr. Marguerite Williams has spent over 23 years as an educational leader, in many roles, committed to ensuring that equity and access are afforded to all students. Most recently, she was employed with Adelanto Elementary School District as an Assistant Superintendent of Academic Services where she was responsible for the Academic Services Division in directing the instructional program of the District. Adelanto Elementary School District is a K-8 district focused on eliminating opportunity and achievement gaps determined through California’s State Accountability Dashboard. Dr. Williams oversaw the Office of Student Services, Office of Special Education, and the Office of Instructional Technology.
Previously, Dr. Marguerite Williams served the 18,000-member Association of California School Administrators as the Senior Director of Equity and Diversity. She has provided professional development to district leaders and other site administrators in meeting the instructional and differentiated needs of culturally and linguistically diverse students grounded in equitable practices, access and opportunity, and culturally proficient leadership. Her work in the Association led to the development of an Equity Academy for school leaders across the State of California which are currently being offered in partnership with the San Bernardino County Superintendent of Schools. In addition, she developed and delivered numerous workshops to ACSA regions and brokered services such as an Equity Institute to districts, including Colton Joint Unified School District.
Previously, Dr. Marguerite Williams served in Los Angeles Unified School District, the second-largest school district in the country, as an Instructional Director in the Intensive Support and Innovation Center and the Linked Learning Office within Academic Services. Her work involved working with local districts within the Los Angeles Unified School District to oversee and supervise schools with the highest academic needs. Further, Dr. Williams coached principals and school teams in the design, development, implementation and monitoring of Linked Learning Pathways whereas two of them received Gold Certification.
Dr. Williams believes that all students can learn with the right conditions and opportunities. She has spent more than 24 years in education focused on working collaboratively, strategically, and intentionally to advocate so all students realize their fullest potential. Dr. Williams’ own life journey required a great deal of resilience and strength which is grounded in her cultural identity and background. Her story mirrors that of many students in our school communities, and regardless of the obstacles she faced, Dr. Williams stays focused on what is possible. She believes that regardless of a student’s zip code or parent educational background, student dreams can be realized through hard work and support. Dr. Williams knows the value of establishing systems and building the capacity of all stakeholders internally and externally.
Dr. Williams obtained her doctorate in Educational Leadership with an emphasis in Higher Education from Argosy University by examining the levels of site and district leadership support which teachers and team members received in implementing the Response to Tiered Intervention Model in San Bernardino. She holds a Master’s Degree in Multicultural Education from California State, Dominguez Hills. She was recognized in 2017 by the Association of California for School Administrators for the Marcus Foster Memorial Award for Administrator Excellence in ACSA Region XVI.
